Originally conceived as the retail base for a 40-story hotel, the project was reconfigured as an intimate five-level retail complex. Sharing Michigan Avenue with its more massive neighbors Water Tower Place and John Hancock Center, Plaza Escada is noteworthy for its modest, personal scale.
